Unused vintage Edgar Allen Poe postage stamps from 1948 - face value is 3¢ each.

 

This stamp features a portrait of Edgar Allen Poe. Poe was a poet, writer, editor and literary critic. Poe’s writing style was influenced by dark romanticism and one of his most famous works is “The Raven.” He was born in Boston, Massachusetts. He was orphaned at a young age and grew up in Richmond, Virginia. He attended the United States Military Academy at West Point for a short while, but was eventually expelled. He died of an unknown cause in Baltimore, Maryland.
